The late season surge may not be enough to save the job of Sixers’ head coach Doug Collins, as the team has already scheduled morning news conferences with the managing owner and Collins.

Lavoy Allen donated a double-double with 11 points and 11 boards, while Thaddeus Young finished with 10 points in the victory.

Four of Indiana’s usual starters — George Hill, Paul George, David West and Roy Hibbert — sat out the contest as the Pacers (49-32) had already secured the No. 3 seed. Indiana learned after the game it will meet Atlanta in the first round of the playoffs with Game 1 coming Sunday at Bankers Life Fieldhouse at a time to be determined.

Gerald Green made the most of the extended playing time, as he posted a career-high 34 points and six boards in the setback, Indiana’s third in a row and fifth in its last six tries.

Philadelphia scored the first 11 points of the contest and held a 25-16 advantage after 12 minutes.

An 18-8 swing to open the second pushed the lead to 43-24 before the Sixers carried a 59-37 edge into the break.

Indiana trimmed the deficit to 85-68 to start the fourth before opening the final frame on a 14-5 surge to pull within seven.

The Sixers, though, scored the next six points and held on for the victory down the stretch.

Notes: The Sixers and Pacers split four games this season … Jeff Pendergraph and Lance Stephenson each finished with 12 points for Indiana … Indiana shot just 23.1 percent (6-for-26) from 3-point range.
